Launch of ‘Damoim’ to Strengthen Sejong Region’s Identity… Opening a New Chapter in Regional Cooperation

The council, ‘Damoim’, which aims to promote regional identity and development in Sejong City, has been successfully launched. This council, organized under the auspices of the Sejong Regional Studies Center, began its official activities by holding its first meeting on August 21st in the conference room on the 8th floor of the Daejeon Sejong Research Institute.

This meeting was attended by 16 officials from 9 major organizations including Sejong Cultural Center, Sejong City Culture and Tourism Foundation, and Sejong Creative Economy Innovation Center. They shared each organization’s ongoing projects and future plans and discussed ways to create synergy through cooperation. In particular, Sejong Regional Studies Center Director Lee Jae-min stated the vision of the council, saying, “The Sejong Regional Studies Council ‘Damoim’ will play an important bridging role in strengthening regional identity.”

Sejong Cultural Center Director Lim Chang-cheol emphasized, “Communication with local residents in towns and counties is necessary to systematically establish local history.” Kim Seong-ju, a full-time director at the Sejong Creative Economy Innovation Center, then mentioned the importance of the council, saying, “We work in the same region, but it’s rare to have the opportunity to gather in one place and discuss things like this.” Team leader Kang Seong-gyu of the Sejong Human Resources Lifelong Education Promotion Center said, “I hope this will become a cooperative platform that makes Sejong City a better place to live.”

In addition, Kim Jin-deok, head of the tourism planning team at the Sejong City Culture and Tourism Foundation, announced that Jochiwon tourist attractions will be introduced in the September issue of KTX Magazine, and Hong Young-hoon, head of the Sejong Youth Center, proposed a youth week campaign in conjunction with the Sejong Creative Economy Innovation Center, opening up the possibility of collaboration.

The Sejong Regional Academic Council ‘Damoim’ is expected to pursue cooperative development in the cultural, economic, and educational fields of Sejong City in the future and serve as a focal point for establishing and developing Sejong City’s identity.
