Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 25th that it will conduct a comprehensive maintenance of old and illegal advertisements around schools from August 26th to September 27th to coincide with the start of the new school year. For the safety of students, the city plans to remove advertisements that obstruct pedestrian and vehicle traffic and crack down on provocative and harmful advertisements.

Yongin Special City will conduct a comprehensive maintenance of old and illegal advertisements around schools from August 26 to September 27 to create a safe school environment for students. This maintenance period was planned to coincide with the start of the school year, and was designed to remove elements that obstruct the view of pedestrians and drivers, and to create an environment where students can safely commute to school.

The main targets of the maintenance are illegal signs and old signs installed around kindergartens, elementary, middle, and high schools, children’s protection zones, and educational environment protection zones, as well as illegal floating advertisements (signboards, banners, posters, leaflets, etc.). In particular, we plan to conduct intensive crackdowns on harmful advertisements containing provocative content.

In addition, the city plans to conduct maintenance activities to secure safe routes to school by additionally inspecting areas where students mainly travel, in addition to these designated areas.

City officials stated, “We have set up this period of comprehensive maintenance to prevent situations where excessive banners and signs obstruct the view of pedestrians and drivers, increasing the risk of accidents,” and “We will swiftly take administrative action against illegal advertisements and remove them to create a safe school environment for students.”

Through this maintenance, the city plans to focus on strengthening the safety of students on their way to school and preventing visual confusion and safety accidents caused by illegal advertisements.
