Gyeonggi Herald Donates 35,000 Books to Gunpo City… Contributes to Fostering Literary Emotions

Gyeonggi Herald (CEO Jong-ho Lim) held an event on August 23rd to donate 35,000 books to Gunpo City. This donation ceremony was held as part of a book donation movement that has been ongoing for the past 10 years, with the goal of fostering literary sentiments among Gunpo citizens. The donation ceremony was attended by key figures from the local community, including Hwa-yong Lee, Chairman of Enough Co., Ltd., Kang-moo Lee, Chairman of Gunpo Saemaeul Geumgo, Jeong-jun Lee, CEO of Moru System Co., Ltd., and Seong-je Lee, Chairman of the Korea Maintenance Association.

Gyeonggi Herald has published 33 books so far and distributed about 35,000 books for free. The book donated this time is ‘Flowers and Essays’ by poet Park Hye-ri, and was published with 3 million won each from Daesung Maref Chairman Lee Jae-hwa, National Institute of Health Honorary Member Jeong Tae-hwa, Enough Chairman Lee Hwa-yong, Gunpo Saemaeul Geumgo (Chairman Lee Kang-moo), Joongang Air Conditioning Chairman Kim In-jae, Sanbon Sangsa Chairman Kim Hong-sik, and Seoul Asan Central Hospital Director Bang Seon-hee.

The published books were distributed to educational institutions and public institutions in Gunpo, Anyang, and Uiwang, and major university libraries nationwide, with sponsors’ labels attached. Senior Chairman Lee Jae-hwa and Honorary Committee Member Jeong Tae-hwa said, “Gyeonggi Herald is working hard to cultivate civic sentiments. We thank all sponsors who have participated in each publication, and we hope that harmony among citizens will be achieved through literature.”

Mayor Ha Eun-ho of Gunpo said, “I know the precious value of this project well because I have experience with the book-sending campaign. I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Gyeonggi Herald staff for contributing to the cultivation of civic sentiment, and I would like to express my gratitude again for their consideration in sending the books directly so as not to interfere with official duties.”
