Incheon Seo-gu Dementia Care Center, hosted by Mayor Kang Beom-seok, announced that it held a special healing lecture on August 21, 2024 for families caring for dementia patients. The lecture, hosted by Director Ga-hyeok of Incheon Grace Nursing Hospital, focused on managing the difficulties of dementia treatment and provided practical advice for improving communication with patients.

On August 21, 2024, the Western Dementia Care Center held a special healing lecture for families of dementia patients. This lecture, given by Director Ga-hyeok of Incheon Grace Nursing Hospital, covered key topics related to the symptoms of aging and the complexity of dementia treatment.
This lecture provided valuable insight into dementia care, including the most challenging symptoms families face when caring for a person with dementia. Through the six basic principles of essentials, access, communication, care, emotions, and greeting, families learned specific skills to communicate effectively with a person with dementia. The content was delivered in a clear and accessible manner to ensure practical understanding and implementation.
Along with the lecture, a video was shown showing real cases of dementia patients in nursing homes. These cases show how various treatment methods can have a positive effect on patients, and reinforce the importance of emotional and practical support in dementia treatment.
Jang Jun-young, the director of the Seo-gu Health Center, emphasized the importance of supporting family caregivers. Professor Jang said, “The psychological well-being of families who provide direct care to dementia patients can have a significant impact on the quality of care the patients receive.” He also emphasized plans to continue to provide various family support programs aimed at relieving stress and providing emotional support to caregivers.
To further reduce the burden on families, the Dementia Care Center offers a variety of services. These include financial support for dementia medications, provision of hygiene products such as diapers and wet wipes, and preventive services such as GPS-based wandering detectors and safe return bracelets. The center also operates a memory shelter service to support dementia patients.
