The childcare facility cooperative district (cluster) to be built in the Gosan District of Uijeongbu is the nation’s first pilot project to comprehensively build childcare facilities for infants, toddlers, and elementary school students. This project began in May of last year with the signing of a basic agreement with the Korea Land and Housing Corporation, and has been progressing smoothly to date. Uijeongbu City plans to complete the detailed design in the first half of next year and begin full-scale construction.

Lee Byeong-taek, head of the promotion team, said, “We will work to make the child care facility cooperation district pilot project a national example in order to solve the low birth rate problem,” and “We will actively promote various child care policies so that Uijeongbu City can develop into a ‘city good for raising children.'”

In addition to the ‘Childcare Facility Cooperation District (Cluster) Pilot Project’, Uijeongbu City plans to build an ‘Integrated Childcare Center’ by utilizing the existing building of Uijeongbu 1-dong Community Center. Through this, the focus will be on eliminating blind spots in care and establishing a regional-centered emergency care system.
