DMZ OPEN Policy Contest: Call for Creative Ideas for Peace and Environment

The ‘DMZ OPEN Policy Contest’ co-hosted by Gyeonggi Province and Spectory will accept applications from August 21 to September 23. This contest seeks policy ideas for creating a peaceful atmosphere on the Korean Peninsula and preserving the DMZ’s ecological environment, and the grand prize winner will receive a prize of 10 million won.

Gyeonggi Province, together with Spectory, is hosting the ‘DMZ OPEN Policy Contest’ with the theme of peace on the Korean Peninsula and preservation of the DMZ ecological environment. Anyone interested in the DMZ can participate in this contest, and participants, consisting of teams of up to four people, can submit policy ideas for creating a peaceful atmosphere on the Korean Peninsula or preserving the DMZ ecological environment.

Applications will be accepted from 9:00 AM on August 21st to 6:00 PM on September 23rd, and documents can be submitted through the website. This contest aims to discover creative and feasible policy ideas, and the contest themes are divided into two: ‘peace’ and ‘environment.’

In the peace field, we are collecting policy ideas for creating a lasting peaceful atmosphere on the Korean Peninsula, and in the environment field, we are collecting policy ideas for preserving and utilizing the ecological environment of the DMZ. The evaluation will proceed through a preliminary written evaluation, a first round video evaluation, a second round presentation evaluation, and a final presentation evaluation, and the final results will be announced on November 6, 2024.

The prize money for the contest is 10 million won for the grand prize winner, 4 million won each for the two excellence award winners, and 1 million won each for the two encouragement award winners. The total prize money is 16 million won, so active participation from participants is expected.
