The Seongsan-myeon Resident Autonomy Committee of Changnyeong-gun announced on the 21st that it had visited the Seobu 2-dong Resident Autonomy Center of Gyeongsan-si to develop resident autonomy and strengthen the capacity of the committee members.
This advanced region tour was planned for the residents’ autonomous committee members to directly experience best practices and seek ways to apply them to Seongsan-myeon.
The tour began with a harmonica performance by residents at the Seobu 2-dong Community Center, followed by an introduction to various programs run by the Seobu 2-dong Community Committee.
Participants benchmarked best practices of local autonomy, such as traditional customs and rites, and gained much inspiration on how the Seongsan-myeon Resident Autonomy Committee could develop.
In particular, the cases in which the Seobu 2-dong Resident Autonomy Committee encouraged the active participation of local residents and brought about positive changes in the local community through this served as a great motivation for the Seongsan-myeon committee members.
During the tour, a Q&A session was held on various measures to promote local autonomy, providing an opportunity for the members to exchange opinions and explore the possibility of practical application.
Lee Byeong-jin, chairman of the Seongsan-myeon Resident Autonomy Committee, said, “Through this visit to an advanced region, the Seongsan-myeon Resident Autonomy Committee was able to find a direction to take and an opportunity to more actively carry out resident autonomy activities,” adding, “We will continue to work for the growth of the Resident Autonomy Committee.”
Seongsan-myeon head Seong Hye-gyeong said, “I was able to learn a lot through the successful operation of the Seobu 2-dong Resident Autonomy Committee, and I hope that this tour will serve as an opportunity to promote mutual development between Seongsan-myeon and Seobu 2-dong.”
He also added, “We will continue to spare no administrative support to encourage voluntary participation and strengthen the capabilities of Seongsan-myeon residents’ autonomous committee members.”
Through this tour, the Seongsan-myeon Resident Autonomy Committee is seeking new directions for development and planning various programs and activities to revitalize resident autonomy.
Seongsan-myeon plans to actively promote resident autonomy activities that can bring about real change in the local community based on these benchmarking cases in the future.
