Seongnam City, with the goal of creating an integrated society where people with and without disabilities can coexist, conducted disability awareness improvement training for 600 public officials on the afternoon of August 26th at Onnuri on the first floor of the city hall. This training was organized as a cultural and artistic type in conjunction with the Milal Cultural Arts Center, and the first part featured a performance by the Korea Artability Chamber, while the second part featured a lecture on disability awareness improvement.

The Korea Artability Chamber is an art troupe comprised of four disabled and four non-disabled people, and through their performance, they showed the natural collaboration and harmony between disabled and non-disabled people, leaving a strong impression on the attendees. In addition, the works of Bridge On Arte, a group of developmentally disabled artists, were displayed in the city hall lobby, contributing to raising positive awareness of disabilities.

Public officials who attended the training responded positively, saying, “It was very impressive to see people with disabilities and people without disabilities working together,” and “It was an opportunity to reflect on my own prejudices while looking at the works of artists with developmental disabilities.”

A Seongnam City official said, “The effect of improving awareness of disabilities was greater when we directly saw and felt people with and without disabilities working together,” and added, “We will continue to strive to deepen understanding and consideration for people with disabilities within public institutions through this type of education.”
