SEOUL — The Korean Today, a citizen-driven media network founded on the pledge to “listen to people,” is expanding its global footprint and inviting partners and contributors to join a growing ecosystem of public-interest journalism. With 51 regional bureaus active across Korea and a roadmap toward 130, the newsroom is now building a worldwide network of 1,555 Global Branches while opening its doors to Citizen Reporters who want their words to carry across borders.

At the heart of The Korean Today is a simple conviction: journalism begins with attentive listening. Publisher Yeon Sam-Heum built the organization on the belief that what we learn should be shared—humbly, accurately, and for the public good. From neighborhood classrooms to city halls, from culture and welfare to technology and the environment, the outlet aims to capture the texture of everyday life and deliver it to a global audience with clarity and respect.

A Global Call for Leadership: Become a Global Branch Director

The Korean Today is recruiting Global Branch Directors in key cities across Asia, Europe, the Americas, the Middle East, and Africa. Branch Directors coordinate local coverage, cultivate contributors, and ensure that reporting meets editorial and ethical standards. They also represent their city within a wider international network, connecting local voices to global conversations. Ideal candidates combine community trust with editorial judgment and a steady commitment to fair, balanced reporting.

Citizen Reporters: From Witness to Byline—And Beyond

The Citizen Reporter program treats contributors not as casual posters but as diligent recorders of public life. Reporters are encouraged to pursue stories that matter—local issues, education and welfare, culture and everyday life, as well as emerging fields such as AI and blockchain—always grounded in facts and mindful of the people behind them. Articles are edited with care to align with professional standards while preserving the writer’s authentic voice.

A distinctive benefit sets The Korean Today apart: reporters who publish 100 articles gain access to an AI-assisted eBook pathway. With about ten minutes of final preparation, those 100 pieces can be compiled and issued as a professionally formatted electronic book, crediting the reporter as the author. It is a practical route from byline to bookshelf—turning perseverance into a lasting contribution. (Many choose thematic collections, such as a daily column gathered under a title like “Today’s Sky Poems.”)

Standards You Can Trust

The Korean Today adheres to a strict code of ethics: editorial independence from political or commercial pressure; accuracy over speculation; protection of sources; respect for privacy and human dignity; and a clear separation of news and advertising. Sensitive coverage—disasters, crime, minors—follows rigorous guidelines to minimize harm. Online, the outlet combats misinformation, honors copyright, and upholds responsible use of social media.

Technology with a Human Purpose

Innovation serves people, not the other way around. The newsroom deploys AI-driven TTS for audio news, the WIA Bot for efficiency, and streamlined editorial tools that reduce friction for contributors. Yet every technological layer is anchored to a human editorial process—fact-checking, context, and fair framing—so that speed never outruns responsibility.

Why It Matters—And Why Now

In an era of fragmented attention and polarized discourse, there is renewed value in careful reporting that respects both facts and feelings. The Korean Today’s model—listening locally, publishing globally—gives citizens a principled platform to document their communities and see those stories travel. For Branch Directors, it is an opportunity to build civic infrastructure. For Citizen Reporters, it is a path to authorship, pride, and public service.
