Uijeongbu City (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) has successfully completed the installation of firefighting water facilities in 2024, thereby establishing a rapid and smooth firefighting water supply system at fire scenes. This project is part of Uijeongbu City’s long-term plan to strengthen firefighting water facilities in response to changes in the firefighting environment, and a total of 50 new fire hydrants will be installed from this year to 2026.

This firefighting water facility expansion project is supported by Gyeonggi Province, and a total budget of 300 million won (50% provincial, 50% municipal) will be invested over three years, with citizen safety as the top priority. In particular, by strengthening the water supply system centered on fire-vulnerable areas and areas with empty firefighting water facilities, it is designed to ensure a stable firefighting water supply not only in emergency situations such as fires, but also in times of social and natural disasters such as quarantine and drought.

Uijeongbu City has installed firefighting water facilities in 13 fire-prone areas in the city selected through consultation with the Uijeongbu Fire Department this year. The installation work was carried out from June 24 to August 22, and a system was established to enable firefighters to quickly and effectively receive water at fire scenes.

Choi Su-yeol, head of the Waterworks Department of Uijeongbu City, said, “We expect that the firefighting water supply system at fire scenes will be further strengthened through the installation of new firefighting water facilities,” and “We will continue to do our best to ensure the safety of citizens.”
