Ulsan begins accepting applications for U Home Yangjeong youth rentals

As applications open for the Ulsan U Home Yangjeong complex, the project is expected to provide practical support for housing stability among young people.

Ulsan City announced that it has issued a call for tenants for the U Home Yangjeong youth public rental housing complex ahead of its completion, with the recruitment notice dated November 14. The Ulsan U Home Yangjeong tenant recruitment is drawing keen attention as it offers local youth an opportunity to secure a stable residential base.

Ulsan Urban Corporation will supply a total of 18 units, consisting of eleven 20-square-meter units and seven 21-square-meter units. The supply also includes one unit reserved for residents with housing vulnerabilities and one unit given priority allocation to a young person preparing for independent living. Eligible applicants are young, non-home-owning residents who, as of the announcement date, either live in Ulsan or have their income base in the city and meet the relevant income and housing requirements. Detailed criteria, required documents and the full recruitment schedule can be found on the Ulsan Urban Corporation website (https://www.umca.co.kr).

Applications will be submitted in paper form on November 28. Final successful applicants will be announced on February 10, 2026, and move-in is scheduled to begin on February 24. The Ulsan U Home Yangjeong recruitment schedule has been arranged to give young applicants sufficient time to plan ahead. Prospective tenants can review the list of required documents in advance on the Ulsan Urban Corporation website (https://www.umca.co.kr) to ensure that nothing is missing from their application.

The U Home Yangjeong complex is located in Yangjeong-dong, Buk-gu, and has a total floor area of 620 square meters across five stories above ground. It is designed in a studio-style layout favored by many young residents, and each unit comes equipped with essential appliances and built-in furnishings, including a refrigerator, washing machine, induction cooktop, sink and wardrobe. In addition, seasonal storage lockers are provided in the common areas, with at least one locker per unit, to compensate for limited floor space. This design is expected to significantly improve actual residential satisfaction.

Ulsan City plans to use the Ulsan U Home Yangjeong recruitment as a stepping stone to further strengthen the supply base for youth-oriented public rental housing. The city has already supplied 36 U Home units in Seongan-dong last year and 38 units in Sinjeong-dong this year. In the first half of next year, it plans to add a total of 150 youth U Home units across six locations, including Yangjeong-dong and Samsan-dong. In the second half, a further 48 newly built, purchase-agreement-type U Home units in Seongan-dong are scheduled to be supplied, which is expected to expand the overall scale of housing available to young people.

With housing insecurity among young people emerging as a nationwide issue, Ulsan is pushing ahead with a range of policies to provide practical solutions tailored to youth. In addition to expanding the volume of public rental housing, the city is working to improve space efficiency and reduce initial settlement costs, focusing on elements that young residents can directly feel and benefit from, and steadily enhancing the completeness of its policy design.

Following the Yangjeong complex recruitment, Ulsan City plans to sequentially announce tenant recruitment notices within November for an additional 96 youth U Home units across four areas: Dal-dong, Samsan, Baekhap and Taehwa. As policies that broaden the range of housing options for local youth continue, expectations are rising for the city’s youth-focused public rental housing projects, including the latest Ulsan U Home Yangjeong tenant recruitment.
