1These are also proverbs of Solomon, which the men of Hezekiah king of Judah copied out.

2It is the glory of God to conceal a thing: but the honor of kings is to search out a matter.
3 shamayim שָׁמַ֣יִם heaven la-rum לָ֭רוּם for-height va-aretz וָאָ֣רֶץ and-earth la-omeq לָעֹ֑מֶק for-depth ve-lev וְלֵ֥ב and-heart-of melakhim מְ֝לָכִ֗ים kings ein אֵ֣ין no cheqer חֵֽקֶר׃ searching
3The heaven for height, and the earth for depth, and the heart of kings is unsearchable.

7For better it is that it be said to you, Come up here; than that you should be put lower in the presence of the prince whom your eyes have seen.
8 al אַל־ not tetze תֵּצֵ֥א go-forth la-riv לָרִ֗ב to-strife maher מַ֫הֵ֥ר hastily pen פֶּ֣ן lest mah מַה־ what ta’aseh תַּ֭עֲשֶׂה will-you-do be-acharitah בְּאַחֲרִיתָ֑הּ in-the-end be-hakhhlim בְּהַכְלִ֖ים when-shames otkha אֹתְךָ֣ you re’ekha רֵעֶֽךָ׃ your-neighbor
8Go not forth hastily to strive, lest you know not what to do in the end of it, when your neighbor has put you to shame.
9 rivkha רִֽ֭יבְךָ your-cause riv רִ֣יב debate et אֶת־ with re’ekha רֵעֶ֑ךָ your-neighbor ve-sod וְס֖וֹד and-secret-of acher אַחֵ֣ר another al אַל־ not tegal תְּגָֽל׃ reveal

16Have you found honey? eat so much as is sufficient for you, lest you be filled with it, and vomit it.
