잠언 17장 (Proverbs Chapter 17)
1 tov טוֹב better pat פַּת morsel charevah חֲרֵבָה dry v-shalvah וְשַׁלְוָה־ and-quietness vah בָהּ with-it mi-bayit מִבַּיִת than-house malei מָלֵא full-of zivchei זִבְחֵי־ sacrifices-of riv רִיב׃ strife
1Better is a dry morsel, and quietness with it, than a house full of sacrifices with strife.
1마른 떡 한 조각만 있고도 화목하는 것이 제육이 집에 가득하고 다투는 것보다 나으니라
2 eved עֶבֶד־ servant maskil מַשְׂכִּיל wise yimshol יִמְשֹׁל shall-rule b-ven בְּבֵן over-son mevish מֵבִישׁ causing-shame u-v-toch וּבְתוֹךְ and-among achim אַחִים brothers yachaloq יַחֲלֹק he-shall-divide nachalah נַחֲלָה׃ inheritance
2A wise servant shall have rule over a son that causes shame, and shall have part of the inheritance among the brothers.
2슬기로운 종은 주인의 부끄러움을 끼치는 아들을 다스리겠고 또 그 아들들 중에서 유업을 나눠 얻으리라
3 matzref מַצְרֵף refining-pot la-kesef לַכֶּסֶף for-silver v-chur וְכוּר and-furnace la-zahav לַזָּהָב for-gold u-vochen וּבֹחֵן but-tries libot לִבּוֹת hearts YHVH יְהוָה׃ the-LORD
3The refining pot is for silver, and the furnace for gold: but the LORD tries the hearts.
3도가니는 은을, 풀무는 금을 연단하거니와 여호와는 마음을 연단하시느니라
4 mera מֵרַע evildoer maqshiv מַקְשִׁיב gives-heed al עַל־ to s’fat שְׂפַת־ lips-of aven אָוֶן iniquity sheqer שֶׁקֶר liar mezin מֵזִין gives-ear al עַל־ to l’shon לְשׁוֹן tongue havot הַוֹּת׃ destructive
4A wicked doer gives heed to false lips; and a liar gives ear to a destructive tongue.
4악을 행하는 자는 사악한 입술에 귀를 기울이고 거짓말을 하는 자는 악한 혀에 귀를 기울이느니라
5 lo’eg לֹעֵג mocking la-rash לָרָשׁ the-poor cheref חֵרֵף reproaches osehu עֹשֵׂהוּ his-Maker sameach שָׂמֵחַ glad l-eid לְאֵיד at-calamities lo לֹא not yinaqeh יִנָּקֶה׃ be-unpunished
5Whoever mocks the poor reproaches his Maker: and he that is glad at calamities shall not be unpunished.
5가난한 자를 조롱하는 자는 그를 지으신 주를 멸시하는 자요 사람의 재앙을 기뻐하는 자는 형벌을 면하지 못하리라
6 ateret עֲטֶרֶת crown-of z’qenim זְקֵנִים old-men b’nei בְּנֵי children-of vanim בָנִים children v-tif’eret וְתִפְאֶרֶת and-glory-of banim בָּנִים children avotam אֲבוֹתָם׃ their-fathers
6Children’s children are the crown of old men; and the glory of children are their fathers.
6손자는 노인의 면류관이요 아비는 자식의 영화니라
7 lo לֹא־ not navah נָאוָה becoming l-naval לְנָבָל to-fool s’fat שְׂפַת־ lip-of yeter יֶתֶר excellence af אַף much ki כִּי־ less l-nadiv לְנָדִיב to-prince s’fat שְׂפַת־ lips-of shaqer שָׁקֶר׃ lying
7Excellent speech becomes not a fool: much less do lying lips a prince.
7분외의 말을 하는 것이 미련한 자에게 합당하지 아니하거든 하물며 거짓말을 하는 것이 존귀한 자에게 합당하겠느냐
8 even אֶבֶן־ stone-of chen חֵן grace ha-shochad הַשֹּׁחַד the-gift b-einei בְּעֵינֵי in-eyes-of v’alav בְעָלָיו its-owner el אֶל־ to kol כָּל־ all asher אֲשֶׁר that yifneh יִפְנֶה he-turns yaskil יַשְׂכִּיל׃ he-prospers
8A gift is as a precious stone in the eyes of him that has it: wherever he turns, he prospers.
8뇌물은 임자가 보기에 보석 같은즉 어디로 향하든지 형통하게 하느니라
9 m’chaseh מְכַסֶּה־ covering pesha פֶּשַׁע transgression m’vaqesh מְבַקֵּשׁ seeking ahavah אַהֲבָה love v-shoneh וְשֹׁנֶה and-repeating v-davar בְדָבָר a-matter mafreed מַפְרִיד separates aluf אַלּוּף׃ friends
9He that covers a transgression seeks love; but he that repeats a matter separates friends.
9허물을 덮어 주는 자는 사랑을 구하는 자요 그것을 거듭 말하는 자는 친한 벗을 이간하는 자니라
10 techat תֵּחַת enters-more g’arah גְּעָרָה reproof v-mevin בְמֵבִין into-wise me-hakot מֵהַכּוֹת than-strike k’sil כְּסִיל fool meah מֵאָה׃ hundred
10A reproof enters more into a wise man than a hundred stripes into a fool.
10한 마디 책망이 명철한 자에게는 미련한 자에게 백번 때리는 것보다 더욱 깊이 박히느니라
11 ach אַךְ־ only m’ri מְרִי rebellion y’vaqesh יְבַקֶּשׁ seeks ra רָע evil u-mal’ach וּמַלְאָךְ therefore-messenger achzari אַכְזָרִי cruel y’shulach יְשֻׁלַּח־ shall-be-sent bo בּוֹ׃ against-him
11An evil man seeks only rebellion: therefore a cruel messenger shall be sent against him.
11악한 자는 오직 거역하기를 구하나니 그러므로 그에게 잔인한 사자가 보냄을 받으리라
12 pagosh פָּגוֹשׁ meet dov דֹּב bear shakul שַׁכּוּל robbed b-ish בְּאִישׁ a-man v-al וְאַל־ rather-than k’sil כְּסִיל fool b-ivalto בְּאִוַּלְתּוֹ׃ in-his-folly
12Let a bear robbed of her whelps meet a man, rather than a fool in his folly.
12미련한 자가 그의 미련한 것을 행하는 것을 만나는 것보다 새끼 빼앗긴 암곰을 만나는 것이 나으니라
13 meshiv מֵשִׁיב returning ra’ah רָעָה evil tachat תַּחַת for tovah טוֹבָה good lo לֹא־ not tamush תָמוּשׁ shall-depart ra’ah רָעָה evil mi-beito מִבֵּיתוֹ׃ from-his-house
13Whoever rewards evil for good, evil shall not depart from his house.
13누구든지 악으로 선을 갚으면 악이 그 집을 떠나지 아니하리라
14 poter פּוֹטֵר letting-out mayim מַיִם water reshit רֵאשִׁית beginning-of madon מָדוֹן strife v-lifnei וְלִפְנֵי therefore-before hitgala הִתְגַּלַּע breaks-out ha-riv הָרִיב the-contention n’tosh נְטוֹשׁ׃ leave-off
14The beginning of strife is as when one lets out water: therefore leave off contention, before it be meddled with.
14다투는 시작은 둑에서 물이 새는 것 같은즉 싸움이 일어나기 전에 시비를 그칠 것이니라
15 matzdiq מַצְדִּיק justifying rasha רָשָׁע wicked u-marshia וּמַרְשִׁיעַ and-condemning tzaddiq צַדִּיק righteous to’avat תּוֹעֲבַת abomination-of YHVH יְהוָה LORD gam גַּם־ even sh’neihem שְׁנֵיהֶם׃ both-of-them
15He that justifies the wicked, and he that condemns the just, even they both are abomination to the LORD.
15악인을 의롭다 하고 의인을 악하다 하는 이 두 사람은 다 여호와께 미움을 받느니라
16 lamah לָמָּה־ why zeh זֶּה this m’chir מְחִיר price b-yad בְּיַד־ in-hand-of k’sil כְּסִיל fool liqnot לִקְנוֹת to-buy chochma חָכְמָה wisdom v-lev וְלֶב־ and-heart ayin אָיִן׃ there-is-not
16Why is there a price in the hand of a fool to get wisdom, seeing he has no heart to it?
16미련한 자는 무지하거늘 손에 값을 가지고 지혜를 사려 함은 어찜인고
17 b-chol בְּכָל־ at-all et עֵת times ohev אֹהֵב loves ha-rea הָרֵעַ the-friend v-ach וְאָח and-brother l-tzarah לְצָרָה for-adversity yivaled יִוָּלֵד׃ is-born
17A friend loves at all times, and a brother is born for adversity.
17친구는 사랑이 끊어지지 아니하고 형제는 위급한 때를 위하여 났느니라
18 adam אָדָם man chasar חֲסַר־ void-of lev לֵב understanding toqea תּוֹקֵעַ strikes kaf כָּף hands arev עֹרֵב becomes-surety aruvah עֲרֻבָּה pledge lifnei לִפְנֵי in-presence-of re’ehu רֵעֵהוּ׃ his-friend
18A man void of understanding strikes hands, and becomes surety in the presence of his friend.
18지혜 없는 자는 남의 손을 잡고 그의 이웃 앞에서 보증인이 되느니라
19 ohev אֹהֵב loving pesha פֶּשַׁע transgression ohev אֹהֵב loves matzah מַצָּה strife magbiha מַגְבִּיהַּ exalting pitcho פִּתְחוֹ his-gate m’vaqesh מְבַקֶּשׁ seeks shever שָׁבֶר׃ destruction
19He loves transgression that loves strife: and he that exalts his gate seeks destruction.
19다툼을 좋아하는 자는 죄과를 좋아하는 자요 자기 문을 높이는 자는 파괴를 구하는 자니라
20 iqqesh עִקֶּשׁ־ perverse-of lev לֵב heart lo לֹא not yimtza יִמְצָא־ finds tov טוֹב good v-nehpach וְנֶהְפָּךְ and-perverse bi-l’shono בִּלְשׁוֹנוֹ in-his-tongue yippol יִפּוֹל falls b-ra’ah בְּרָעָה׃ into-mischief
20He that has a perverse heart finds no good: and he that has a perverse tongue falls into mischief.
20마음이 굽은 자는 복을 얻지 못하고 혀가 패역한 자는 재앙에 빠지느니라
21 yoled יֹלֵד begets k’sil כְּסִיל fool l-tugah לְתוּגָה to-sorrow lo לוֹ to-him v-lo וְלֹא־ and-not yismach יִשְׂמַח has-joy avi אֲבִי father-of naval נָבָל׃ fool
21He that begets a fool does it to his sorrow: and the father of a fool has no joy.
21미련한 자를 낳는 자는 근심을 당하나니 미련한 자의 아비는 낙이 없느니라
22 lev לֵב heart sameach שָׂמֵחַ merry yeitiv יֵיטִב does-good-like gehah גֵּהָה medicine v-ruach וְרוּחַ but-spirit n’che’ah נְכֵאָה broken t’yabesh תְּיַבֶּשׁ־ dries garem גָּרֶם׃ bones
22A merry heart does good like a medicine: but a broken spirit dries the bones.
22마음의 즐거움은 양약이라도 심령의 근심은 뼈를 마르게 하느니라
23 shochad שֹׁחַד gift me-cheiq מֵחֵיק out-of-bosom rasha רָשָׁע wicked yiqqach יִקָּח takes l-hatot לְהַטּוֹת to-pervert archot אָרְחוֹת ways-of mishpat מִשְׁפָּט׃ judgment
23A wicked man takes a gift out of the bosom to pervert the ways of judgment.
23악인은 사람의 품에서 뇌물을 받고 재판을 굽게 하느니라
24 et אֶת־ with p’nei פְּנֵי face-of mevin מֵבִין understanding chochmah חָכְמָה wisdom v-einei וְעֵינֵי but-eyes-of ch’sil כְסִיל fool bi-q’tzei בִּקְצֵה־ in-ends-of aretz אָרֶץ׃ earth
24Wisdom is before him that has understanding; but the eyes of a fool are in the ends of the earth.
24지혜는 명철한 자 앞에 있거늘 미련한 자는 눈을 땅 끝에 두느니라
25 ben בֵּן son k’sil כְּסִיל foolish ka’as כַּעַס grief l-aviv לְאָבִיו to-his-father u-memer וּמֶמֶר and-bitterness l-yoladto לְיוֹלַדְתּוֹ׃ to-her-that-bore-him
25A foolish son is a grief to his father, and bitterness to her that bore him.
25미련한 아들은 그 아비의 근심이 되고 그 어미의 고통이 되느니라
26 gam גַּם also anosh עֲנוֹשׁ to-punish la-tzaddiq לַצַּדִּיק the-just lo לֹא־ not tov טוֹב good l-hakot לְהַכּוֹת to-strike n’divim נְדִיבִים princes al עַל־ for yosher יֹשֶׁר׃ equity
26Also to punish the just is not good, nor to strike princes for equity.
26의인을 벌하는 것과 귀인을 정직하다고 때리는 것은 선하지 못하니라
27 chosech חוֹשֵׂךְ spares amarav אֲמָרָיו his-words yodea יוֹדֵעַ having da’at דָּעַת knowledge v-qar וְקַר־ and-cool ruach רוּחַ spirit ish אִישׁ man-of t’vunah תְּבוּנָה׃ understanding
27He that has knowledge spares his words: and a man of understanding is of an excellent spirit.
27말을 아끼는 자는 지식이 있고 성품이 냉철한 자는 명철하니라
28 gam גַּם even evil אֱוִיל fool macharish מַחֲרִישׁ holds-his-peace chacham חָכָם wise yechashev יֵחָשֵׁב is-counted otem אֹטֵם shutting s’fatav שְׂפָתָיו his-lips navon נָבוֹן׃ understanding
28Even a fool, when he holds his peace, is counted wise: and he that shuts his lips is esteemed a man of understanding.
28미련한 자라도 잠잠하면 지혜로운 자로 여겨지고 그의 입술을 닫으면 슬기로운 자로 여겨지느니라
