Uijeongbu Music Library operates a subscription service called ‘Discovering Taste’ to help citizens discover their hidden tastes. This service was designed for citizens who have difficulty choosing books and records because they do not have their own standards, and it is receiving a great response as a customized service that recommends records by instrument and books by genre.

‘Discovery of Taste’ is a service that provides books and records selected by librarians and music experts in a themed package. Starting with the ‘String Instruments and Essays’ section in February of this year, it has provided citizens with opportunities to encounter new music and literature through various themes such as ‘Percussion Instruments and Philosophy’ and ‘Woodwind Instruments and Poetry’. This service has become a popular program at Uijeongbu Music Library.

In August, a new section titled ‘Brass Instruments and Drama Novels’ will be introduced. Citizens can enjoy beautiful songs played on brass instruments and drama novels together to inject new vitality into their daily lives. This theme is expected to provide deep impressions by combining the unique tone of brass instruments, which produce sound through the vibration of the performer’s lips, with literary sensibility.

The package includes one recommended album for each instrument and one recommended book for each genre, and also provides listening devices for the selected media. In particular, subscribers can fully experience analog sensibility that is difficult to access in the digital age through LPs and CDs.

Subscription applications will be accepted on a first-come, first-served basis at the Uijeongbu Music Library from 10:00 AM on August 24th, and you can receive the package at the same time as applying. For more information, check the library homepage notices and the Music Library Instagram, or contact the person in charge (031-828-4854).

Park Young-ae, the director of the library, said, “We have planned a subscription program for real-life items that reflects the trends of the times and have worked to provide advanced public services,” and added, “We will continue to play an active role in leading the way for local residents to enjoy rich culture and arts.”
