Yeongdeungpo-gu, Seoul (Mayor Choi Ho-kwon) announced that it operated the ‘Yeongdeungpo Photo Studio with Happiness’ project for three days from August 19th to 21st, providing free wedding photo shoots to 20 low-income couples.

This project was carried out as part of the Yeongdeungpo-type happiness net project, using the warm winter fundraising collected in February of this year. The beneficiaries of the support are low-income couples who have not been able to hold wedding ceremonies or wedding photos due to economic difficulties, such as elderly people with dementia, severely disabled people, and multicultural families in the region.

The 20 couples selected were selected through recommendations from related organizations such as the Dementia Care Center, the Comprehensive Welfare Center for the Disabled, the Multicultural Family Center, and 18 community centers. The wedding photo shoot took place over three days, with six households filmed in the first round, seven households in the second round, and seven households in the third round.

Yeongdeungpo-gu offers not only wedding photography, but also free rental of dresses, tuxedos, and hanbok, as well as services such as bride and groom makeup and hair styling. The photos taken will be framed and given to each couple.

One senior citizen who participated said, “It’s my first time having someone else do my makeup, and it’s been a long time since I’ve done makeup,” and added, “I was embarrassed at first, but now my heart is pounding. I want to see the pictures soon.” The person in charge of the makeup said, “I feel proud when I see the senior citizens happy, and it reminds me of my parents.”

Yeongdeungpo-gu Mayor Choi Ho-kwon said, “This project is meaningful because it can give unforgettable memories to couples in the area,” and added, “We will continue to do our best to discover various welfare projects for low-income residents and create a happy Yeongdeungpo-gu without any marginalized neighbors.”
