Ulsan Museum Invites Residents to a Cinema Experience in 2026

Ulsan Museum is inviting residents to a renewed movie-screening program in 2026, aiming to expand everyday access to culture and make the museum a more approachable community space. The updated initiative, titled “Ulsan Museum Invites Residents to a Cinema Experience,” will run throughout the year and feature carefully selected films that connect with the museum’s major themes, including history, art, science and technology, and the natural world.

According to Ulsan Museum, screenings will be held on the last Wednesday of each month, which is widely recognized in Korea as “Culture Day,” a national cultural-access program that encourages public participation through discounted or free cultural experiences.

 

The 2026 program will open on Wednesday, Jan. 28, at 2 p.m. with War Horse, directed by Steven Spielberg. The museum selected the film to mark 2026 as the Year of the Red Horse, choosing a story centered on a horse and the bond between a boy and his animal companion. Set against the backdrop of Worllores themes of life, coexistence, and resilience—elements the museum believes align closely with its educational and cultural mission.

 

Ulsan Museum also adjusted the operating format based on last year’s audience-demand analysis. Starting this year, screenings will be standardized at 2 p.m., a time slot the museum says drew stronger attendance. In addition, the museum will present one curated film each month to improve program stabience immersion.

Alongside the regular monthly screenings, Ulsan Museum is introducing a family-focused special series for children. The museum plans to schedule animated films during key school-holiday periods to encourage family visits and help younger audiences feel more comfortable in museum settings. Planned tiDory on Children’s Day (May 5), Zootopia during the summer break (Aug. 12), and Coco during the winter break (Dec. 23).

 

All screenings will be free of charge. Entry will be available on a first-come, first-served basis beginning 20 minutes before the start time, with seating limited to 200 people per screening. The museum noted that early closure is possible if capacity is reached. Additional details are available thhibition planning team.

 

An official at Ulsan Museum said the program is designed to help residents experience the museum as a familiar cultural venue, where film and exhibitions can be enjoyed together. By strengthening this year-round screening initiative, the museum hopes to broaden cultural participation and share the can” charm with more residents.
