Despite the sweltering weather, participants focused on collecting styrofoam, waste plastic, tree branches and other marine debris and household waste that had accumulated on the beach and surrounding coastline. The total amount of waste collected over the course of the day reached about 3 tons.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p>Jawol-myeon Township explained that the event was organized to provide a pleasant environment for beachgoers ahead of the peak summer vacation season, while also spreading a culture of marine environment conservation throughout the local community.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<table
