Newly established express bus routes S1 and S2 for commuting to Hi-Tech Valley and Pangyo 2nd Techno Valley

Seongnam City announced on the 22nd that it will be newly introducing weekday commute-only express bus routes S1 and S2 starting in September for the convenience of workers in Hi-Tech Valley and Pangyo 2nd Techno Valley. This bus reorganization is intended to significantly improve transportation convenience for residents of worker-concentrated areas and newly developed areas, and will connect various major locations in Seongnam City.

Seongnam City (Mayor Shin Sang-jin) announced on the 22nd that it will be newly opening express bus routes S1 and S2 for workers in Hi-Tech Valley and Pangyo 2nd Techno Valley starting in September. This measure is intended to facilitate commutes in areas where workers are concentrated and to increase transportation convenience for residents in newly developed areas such as Pangyo Daejang District and Godeung District.

The S1 city bus runs expressly around Seongnam High-Tech Valley, stopping at seven major stops including Moran Station, Seongnam High-Tech Valley, Dandaeogeori Station, and Namhansanseong Entrance Station. The route is scheduled to open on September 27, and a total of four buses will be deployed.

The S2 city bus will stop at three locations, including Moran Station, I SQUARE Startup Housing, and Venture Town, centered around Pangyo 2nd Techno Valley, and a total of two buses will be in operation starting September 2. Both the S1 and S2 will only operate during weekday rush hours, and at other times, additional buses will be added to the 342 and 382 city bus routes, which have seen high demand for additional buses.

Seongnam City added the letter ‘S’ to the branding of the two routes, which stands for the express bus (Speed) that stops at major Seongnam locations (Stop & Skip). Through this, the city plans to connect the new and old city centers in various ways and significantly improve the transportation conditions in areas with large concentrations of workers.

In addition, from August 26, the route of the Bandi 4 bus, a late-night/early-morning route, will be changed to pass through Mikum Station, Ori Station, and Pangyo Wonmaeul, thereby expanding convenience for residents in the Seopangyo area.

Starting September 2, village bus route 105 will be discontinued and integrated into village bus route 111. Accordingly, route 111, which used to run between Jeongja Station and Bundang Seoul National University Hospital, will be extended to Hyundai R&D Center and run more frequent routes.

In addition, in preparation for the move-in of Pangyo Daejang District 10 Complex, the city plans to add three buses to city bus routes 310 and 380, which currently operate in Jeongja-dong and Gumi-dong, by the end of the year.

A Seongnam City official said, “This bus reorganization will not only allow for more diverse connections between major hubs in the new and old city centers within the city, but will also greatly improve transportation conditions in areas with a large concentration of workers.” He added, “We will continue to work to improve the convenience of public transportation for newly moving in companies and residents of areas under development plans.”
