The ‘Smart Mirror’ is a full-length mirror-shaped touchscreen device, consisting of a sensor camera that can recognize movement and a walking pad with a pressure sensor. Users can easily follow various movements, such as stretching, while looking at themselves in the mirror.

As we age, poor posture can become entrenched and lead to body deformation or joint problems. The Smart Mirror program analyzes the user’s posture and provides feedback to help maintain body balance.

Dongdaemun-gu will operate the ‘Smart Mirror Cognitive Exercise Classroom’ for a total of 16 times from September 2 to November at the Cognitive Health Center on the first floor of the Dongdaemun-gu Dementia Care Center. The program will be conducted under the guidance of a professional occupational therapist, and participants can receive exercise therapy regardless of space or weather. In addition, through the cognitive activity program using the stepping stone, attention, motor coordination, perception, and short-term memory can be improved.

Any Dongdaemun-gu resident interested in dementia prevention can contact the Dongdaemun-gu Dementia Care Center (02-957-3062) to apply for the ‘Smart Mirror’ experience.

Meanwhile, Dongdaemun-gu Dementia Care Center recently designated Yongsin-dong as the fifth dementia care village and is promoting various projects to help community members understand dementia correctly and improve the quality of life of dementia patients and their families.

Dongdaemun-gu District Mayor Lee Pil-hyung said, “We are exploring various ways to prevent dementia using smart devices,” and added, “I hope that the smart mirrors we have introduced this time will be of great help to our residents in their healthy old age, and we will do our best to operate the program.”
