Expanding the opening of school facilities with residents… 4 additional schools sign agreements

Gunpo City (Mayor Ha Eun-ho) announced on the 26th that it signed an additional ‘Business Agreement (MOU) for School Facility Opening’ with Gunpo Uiwang Office of Education and 4 additional schools (Gunpo Middle School, Dangdong Middle School, Sanbon Middle School, Yongho High School) in the jurisdiction. This agreement is considered an important measure to strengthen cooperation between local communities and educational institutions and improve the quality of life of residents by allowing residents to freely use school sports facilities.

Gunpo City has already signed similar agreements with 12 schools, including Gunpo Shinki Elementary School, on August 25th of last year, and has opened gymnasiums and playgrounds to residents. This has given local residents the opportunity to enjoy healthy leisure activities nearby, and the city wanted to provide benefits to more residents through additional agreements based on this achievement.

According to this agreement, the city promised the following to the four schools: ▲support for public utility fees (up to 10 million won), ▲priority support for environmental improvement projects, and ▲support for renovation costs due to the opening of gymnasiums (up to 5 million won). Gunpo Mayor Ha Eun-ho said, “Opening school facilities is an important opportunity for residents and schools to cooperate with each other to promote the welfare of the local community,” and “in particular, cooperation between both schools and residents is essential so that the facilities can be operated efficiently without interfering with students’ education.”

He also asked, “I hope that residents using the facility will actively participate in maintaining safety and cleanliness,” adding that the city will spare no effort in providing support to ensure that this agreement has practical effects.
