The City of Ulsan announced on October 31 that Ulsan Urban Railway Line 2 has been officially selected as a candidate project for the preliminary feasibility study by the Ministry of Economy and Finance\u2019s 10th Fiscal Project Evaluation Committee.<\/p>\n

The project will invest a total of 440 billion KRW, with the goal of opening in 2032, marking a major step forward in Ulsan\u2019s public transportation infrastructure. The planned route begins at Bukulsan Station, passes through the Jinjang Distribution Complex in Buk-gu, continues along Beonyeong-ro in Jung and Nam-gu, and terminates at Yaum Intersection in Nam-gu. The total length is 13.55 km and includes 14 stations.<\/p>\n

This selection marks the second major milestone following the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, and Transport\u2019s investment review approval in August, signaling the realization of one of Ulsan\u2019s long-held aspirations. Although the city\u2019s initial application in August last year was rejected due to a perceived lack of urgency, Ulsan successfully persuaded the evaluation committee this year by emphasizing the linkage between Line 1 and the newly approved \u201cUlsan\u2013Yangsan\u2013Busan Metropolitan Railway.\u201d<\/p>\n

Once the Ministry of Economy and Finance\u2019s preliminary feasibility study is passed, the project will proceed with the establishment of a basic plan, detailed design, and construction phase, aiming to break ground in 2029. Upon completion, the combined operation of Lines 1 and 2 will form a cross-shaped rail network covering the entire city, significantly enhancing transportation convenience for citizens.<\/p>\n
