“Goyanghee Book Warehouse” — A New Cultural Haven in Jeju’s Jocheon
Nestled in the heart of Jocheon, Jeju, at 11 Wahyeol Sangseo 1-gil, the newly opened Goyanghee Book Warehouse has quickly become a beloved community space since its grand opening on December 13, 2025. This unique venue blends books, learning, nature, and animal companionship into a warm cultural destination right here in our region.
At the entrance, visitors are greeted by a hand-painted calligraphy sign reading 高陽喜 (“A Bright Space Filled with Joyful Sunshine”) — penned by the owner herself and adorned with colorful supporter stickers, reflecting the community’s shared goodwill and ongoing encouragement.
The space consists of three charming old-style buildings that together form a cozy reading and gathering environment. Curated by Goyanghee, a multi-talented host with over 10 professional certifications, the venue offers more than just books. Guests of all ages can participate in reading programs, English tutoring sessions, and tarot consultations, making it a vibrant hub for both leisure and learning.

What truly sets Goyanghee Book Warehouse apart is its generous hospitality: snacks and beverages — including snacks, cup noodles, fish-shaped pastries (bungeoppang), fish cake (odeng), and coffee — are offered completely free of charge, welcoming visitors to relax and stay as long as they like.
Behind the buildings lies a sprawling 3,000-pyeong orchard, lovingly tended without pesticides. The orchard’s naturally sweet fruits have drawn praise from visitors, many of whom return repeatedly just for the taste and serene atmosphere.
Adding to the charm, the space is shared with eleven friendly cats, a dog, and a rabbit, all cared for through visitor support and donations. Their presence enriches the welcoming vibe, making the warehouse not only a place to read and learn but also a comforting refuge for both people and animals.
