Ongjin County (Governor Moon Kyung-bok) announced that on August 10, they held a completion ceremony for the ‘Siplipo Beach Water Park’ at Siplipo Beach in Yeongheung-do. This completion ceremony was held grandly with the attendance of major guests, local residents, and many tourists, and the first part consisted of a progress report, congratulatory remarks, and a tape-cutting ceremony, followed by a busking performance called ‘Sipli for you Chilling Night’ in the second part.
The ‘Siplipo Beach Water Park’ is a water facility designed for both adults and children to enjoy, and a total project cost of 1.7 billion won was invested. The water park is divided into adult pools and children’s pools, and has various water play facilities that children like, such as water guns, water buckets, and water drops. In addition, there are also facilities such as outdoor showers, changing rooms, and shades, so that visitors can use them more conveniently.
At the completion ceremony, Ongjin County Governor Moon Kyung-bok said, “Yeongheung Island has the geographical advantage of being accessible from the metropolitan area, including Seoul and Gyeonggi Province, in about an hour, and is a famous tourist attraction with beautiful coastal scenery.” He added, “The newly created Siplipo Beach water park will inject vitality into the daily lives of residents and tourists tired from the heat, and will be a cool and happy place that will blow away the discomfort index built up from heat waves and tropical nights.”
With the completion of the Siplipo Beach water park, Yeongheung Island is expected to become an even more attractive summer vacation spot and a popular tourist destination.
