Mayor Kim Gil-seong of Jung-gu District Office started a 14-week career experience program called ‘Tomorrow’s Fashion King – Understanding and Reality of Online Live Commerce’ for first-year students of Jangwon Middle School. School. The program, which began on the 28th, provides students with on-site experience in the fashion industry, utilizes local fashion clusters, and offers practical classes from experts in the field.
Seoul Jung-gu will run a 14-week fashion industry career experience program for 40 first-year students at Jangwon Middle School from August 28. The program, titled “Tomorrow’s Fashion King – Understanding and Reality of Online Live Commerce,” aims to provide students with a deep understanding of the fashion industry by combining theoretical education with practical experience. The plan is part of the school district’s collaboration with the free semester system, which allows middle school students to explore potential career paths without the burden of exams.
Jung-gu, known as a powerhouse in the fashion industry, will use the local fashion cluster to provide students with opportunities to experience the actual industry. Through partnerships with fashion-related organizations such as Dongdaemun Buyers Lounge, V-Commerce Studio, and Seoul Fashion Hub, students will have a valuable opportunity to experience various aspects of the fashion industry.
One of the highlights of the program is the focus on live commerce, a new trend in the fashion industry. Students will not only learn how to plan a live commerce broadcast, but also act as a show host selling products on a live streaming broadcast. This hands-on approach, combined with direct feedback from industry professionals, is expected to help students develop an interest in fashion and practical skills.
These fashion-focused job experiences are part of a broader initiative by the area called ‘Jung-gu Industrial Street Job World’. The project is designed to provide young people with realistic and specific job exploration opportunities in industries that are key to the local economy. The ‘Jung-gu Industrial Street Map’, which focuses on specialized industries such as fashion, printing, and lighting, is used to provide students with hands-on experience.
In addition to providing practical experience, we plan to create a career experience program operation manual for various experience centers to ensure consistency and quality throughout the program. We will also form a ‘Jung-gu Job World Mentor Group’ comprised of industry experts to enhance guidance for students and effectiveness of the program. In addition, we will train the ‘Parent Career Experience Support Group’ as docents to guide and support students’ career exploration activities.
Kim Gil-seong, the mayor of Jung-gu, said, “We will develop the ‘Industrial Job World’ model so that young people can explore their career paths in detail by utilizing Jung-gu’s abundant local resources. This program is just the beginning, and we plan to continuously expand opportunities for young people to experience career paths in various specialized industries.”
Following the launch of this fashion-related program, the district plans to further expand its career experience program through the ‘Industry Street Job World’ project to provide students with a variety of opportunities to explore their future career paths.
