The Gyeonggi Agricultural and Fisheries Promotion Agency will hold the ‘2024 Gyeonggi Liquor Awards’ from August 31 to September 1 at KINTEX in Goyang to raise awareness of traditional liquor in the Gyeonggi region and expand consumption. This event will offer a variety of experience programs, food, and things to see, including a traditional liquor tasting event.
The ‘2024 Gyeonggi Liquor Awards’ hosted by the Gyeonggi Agricultural and Fisheries Promotion Agency will be held from August 31 to September 1 at Hall 1A of KINTEX 1st Exhibition Center in Goyang. A total of 140 exhibition booths will be operated at this event, and visitors will be able to experience a variety of traditional liquors from Gyeonggi Province in one place.
The Gyeonggi Liquor Awards offers a variety of experiences to visitors, including ▲a tasting event and traditional liquor awards ceremony ▲a variety of things to enjoy, such as a cocktail show and an auction show ▲food trucks and traditional liquor tasting ▲a ‘delicious rice-making contest’ using Gyeonggi rice, rice gangjeong and makgeolli making, and experience as a Gyeonggi traditional liquor sommelier.
In particular, the tasting contest will be held for traditional liquors produced in Gyeonggi-do that use Gyeonggi rice. Qualification for participation is limited to products of Gyeonggi-do businesses that have been distributed in the market for at least 3 months prior to the entry date and are currently in circulation. The grand prize, gold prize, and silver prize will be awarded in the takju, yak/cheongju, and distilled liquor categories through document evaluation and product evaluation. A total of 9 award winners will be selected, and the award winners will be provided with prize money and opportunities to participate in various promotional events.
Liquor companies and food manufacturers using Gyeonggi rice in Gyeonggi Province can participate in the exhibition booth for free, and applications for participation are accepted until August 28. Choi Chang-soo, the head of the Gyeonggi Agricultural and Fisheries Promotion Agency, said, “I hope this event will be an important opportunity to raise awareness of Gyeonggi-do’s traditional liquor, and through this, I hope to simultaneously stimulate consumption of traditional liquor and Gyeonggi rice.”
