Mayor Kim Dong-geun of Uijeongbu attends the opening ceremony of the Uijeongbu Job Support Center, a job rehabilitation facility for the disabled

On August 23, Uijeongbu Mayor Kim Dong-geun attended the opening ceremony of the Uijeongbu Job Support Center, a new job rehabilitation facility for the disabled that was relocated to Minrak-dong, and encouraged the independence of the disabled. The Uijeongbu Job Support Center is a job adaptation training facility for the disabled operated by the social cooperative ‘Woori Na-rae’, and provides various education and training to help the developmentally disabled become independent.

Uijeongbu Vocational Support Center operates various basic job skills training programs such as rehabilitation basic training to improve living and social functions for adults with developmental disabilities, job training, calligraphy, coffee expert (barista) experience, and camps. This relocation was done to provide a more comfortable training environment for the disabled, and the previous name, ‘Barumteo’, was changed to ‘Uijeongbu Vocational Support Center’ to strengthen the professionalism of the facility.

Director Jeong Do-seon said, “I would like to thank everyone who attended the opening ceremony,” and added, “In order to realize our vision of improving the job skills of the disabled, expanding employment, and securing a foundation for independence, we will continue to strive to provide users with practical and professional programs so that the disabled can live as the main characters of their own lives.”

Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “I hope that people with developmental disabilities will be able to become independent members of the community through the vocational rehabilitation services provided by Uijeongbu Job Support Center,” and emphasized, “We will continue to show interest and support to promote welfare for the disabled and stabilize jobs.”

This opening ceremony was an important event that demonstrated Uijeongbu City’s efforts to support the independence of people with disabilities, and announced the new beginning of the Uijeongbu Job Support Center based on expanded space and enhanced expertise.
