Promoting smoking prevention and promoting a smoke-free environment through creative video submissions

Incheon Seo-gu, led by Mayor Kang Beom-seok, announced that it will hold the ‘Incheon Seo-gu Smoking Cessation Short-form Video Contest’ on August 23, 2024. This contest aims to raise awareness of the importance of smoking prevention and create a smoking-free culture in the local community. All Incheon citizens are encouraged to participate in this contest, which encourages entries on various topics related to smoking.

The Seo-gu Health Center Smoking Cessation Support Team is hosting the ‘Incheon Seo-gu Smoking Cessation Short Film Contest’ hosted by Seo-gu to promote smoking cessation and raise awareness of the harmful effects of smoking. – Anyone living in the Incheon area can participate in the contest starting August 23, 2024.

Participants are encouraged to create videos that cover a variety of topics, including youth smoking prevention, health risks associated with smoking, personal decisions to quit, information about designated smoke-free zones, and available smoking cessation support services. Short-form video submissions are 15 to 60 seconds long, providing flexibility for creative storytelling.

The contest will run from September 2, 2024 to September 19, 2024 and participants must post their video entries on their personal social media platforms using the hashtag #WesternAntiSmokingVideoContest. Participants must submit an application and affidavit to the contest organizer along with their video submission. Each participant may submit up to two entries.

The winners will be announced on October 14, 2024 after a panel of experts. A total of 10 winners (or teams) will be selected, and the prize money will be 5.1 million won in local currency. The winning entries will be used in a Western anti-smoking campaign.

Mayor Kang Beom-seok expressed his expectations for the contest, saying, “I hope this contest will be a good opportunity for local residents to recognize the importance of quitting smoking and understand the harmful effects of smoking.” He encouraged active participation from the local community and emphasized the impact the contest can have on creating a healthier, smoke-free environment.
