‘Energy Day’ is an event that has been held annually since 2004 to commemorate August 22, 2003, when electricity consumption reached an all-time high, and to raise awareness of the importance of energy conservation. This year’s event theme, ‘Turn Off the Lights, Turn On the Stars’, is a campaign that encourages people to turn off the lights for 5 minutes at 9 p.m., look at the stars, and think about the meaning of energy conservation.

Accordingly, the staff of the Siheung City Youth Foundation participated in the ‘Keeping the Indoor Temperature at 26-28℃ During the Day’ and ‘Turning Off the Lights for 5 Minutes from 9 PM’ campaigns.

Lee Deok-hee, CEO of Siheung Youth Foundation, said, “Siheung Youth Foundation is a public institution for youth, the protagonists of the future generation, and we participated in this event to actively participate in energy conservation in response to the climate crisis.” He added, “We will actively work to create a planet where youth can grow up happier and healthier by practicing the foundation’s unique environmental, social, and governance (ESG) management vision of ‘YESG: Creating a Better World with Siheung Youth.’”

This campaign served as a great opportunity to raise awareness among young people about the importance of climate change and energy conservation and to encourage them to take action for a sustainable future.
