Uijeongbu City (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) held the ‘Dog Poop Prevention Squad (feat. Kim Dong-geun)’ program on the walking path from Uijeongbu Jungnangcheon Balgok Station to Dong-o Station on August 24. This program was created to alleviate social conflicts caused by companion dogs by having the mayor participate in the daily lives of citizens who enjoy walking with their companion dogs, and to create a safe and enjoyable local community.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun enjoyed walking his dog with about 10 participants, including youth clubs and youth council activists from Uijeongbu City, at the event. The participants walked and ran along the Jungnangcheon trail and reflected on the importance of proper pet culture through activities such as collecting pet waste and trash around the area.
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “As the number of households with pets increases, we need policies that both pet owners and non-pet owners can agree on,” and added, “I ask all citizens to make efforts to establish a mature pet culture in which we are considerate of one another.”
This event provided an opportunity for pet owners and non-pet owners to mingle together while walking their dogs, and was an important opportunity to find ways to resolve conflicts related to companion animals. Uijeongbu City plans to continue to foster a healthy pet culture and promote harmony in the local community through various programs with citizens.
