Yeonsu-gu Health Center ( District Mayor Lee Jae-ho ) will provide free rental of automated external defibrillators (AEDs) to events with up to 500 attendees and local festivals that use explosive materials such as firecrackers .
An automated external defibrillator is a medical device that gives an electric shock to a patient in cardiac arrest to restore normal rhythm. It provides voice guidance explaining the method of use and treatment steps, so that even laypeople with limited medical knowledge can use it easily.
Event organizations renting equipment must establish a safety management plan, including an emergency equipment preparation plan, and AED rental is possible after receiving simple training from a public health center .
A health center official said, “ We hope that by placing emergency equipment at event venues where large crowds gather, it will help save precious lives in emergency situations .” He added , “ You can apply to rent an automated external defibrillator (AED) by calling the Yeonsu-gu Health Center Health Administration Division ( ☎ 032-749-8024) . ”
