Uijeongbu City (Mayor Kim Dong-geun) conducted a capacity building program for 13 members of the Uijeongbu branch of the Gyeonggi Women’s Association (Chairperson Yoo Kyung-sook) at the Munye Forest Community Center Hoe-ryong Station branch on August 26. This program was planned for the purpose of strengthening women’s social capacity and promoting emotional communication, and instructor Lee Su-jeong (CEO of Milky Soap) conducted the training under the theme of ‘Amor Fati, I will love my destiny.’
During the course, participants had time to inscribe positive messages in their lives through calligraphy and making pressed flower frames, and communicate their feelings with each other through activities that artistically expressed these messages. Members who participated in the program showed positive responses, saying that they were able to discover a new self and promote mutual understanding through creative activities.
Uijeongbu City plans to continue to operate various programs every month that can contribute to expanding women’s social participation and spreading gender equality culture, starting with this program. In particular, it plans to invite talented instructors to provide self-development and hobby/culture programs, thereby supporting women to demonstrate their capabilities in various fields.
Chairwoman Yoo Kyung-sook said, “Through this program, we were able to discover a new side of ourselves by engraving phrases that could have a positive impact on our lives and completing picture frames using pressed flowers,” adding, “It was a beneficial time that broadened the scope of communication and understanding among members.”
Mayor Kim Dong-geun said, “I would like to express my gratitude to the members of women’s groups who are dedicated to the development of the local community in various fields,” and added, “I hope that through this arts forest program, they will contribute to the development of Uijeongbu City with their strengthened capabilities.”
