Incheon City’s Namdong-gu will carry out a comprehensive inspection of illegal advertisements around kindergartens, elementary , middle , and high schools for five weeks until the 26th of next month to ensure students’ safe commute to school as the new school year begins .
According to the district on the 28th , the main targets of maintenance are old signboards that pose a risk of falling , leaflets and business card-type advertisements with obscene , decadent , or suggestive content, and floating advertisements such as banners , signboards , and air lights that obstruct traffic .
The district, in cooperation with each dong administrative welfare center, will focus on improving the streets around schools, including the children’s protection zone ( 300 m from the main entrance ) and the educational environment protection zone ( 200 m from the boundary line ) , where commercial and entertainment establishments are concentrated .
Through this, we plan to immediately remove advertisements that threaten pedestrian traffic safety, including floating advertisements , and encourage business owners to voluntarily remove old, defective, and illegal fixed advertisements .
In particular , areas outside the district where students are exposed to unsafe or hazardous environments while commuting to or from school will be included in the maintenance target .
Mayor Park Jong-hyo said, “ We will do our best to create an educational environment where students can commute to and from school in a pleasant environment by comprehensively cleaning up illegal advertisements at the start of the semester and maximizing safety on school routes . ”
