Yongin Special City Giheung-gu received 5,000 sets of COVID-19 antigen self-test kits from Suwon City-based in vitro diagnostic medical device company Lapigen Co., Ltd. on the 28th. This donation was made with the purpose of protecting the health of the disabled, elderly, children, and low-income class who are vulnerable to infection due to the recent resurgence of COVID-19. The donated self-test kits will be promptly distributed through local welfare facilities and 15 neighborhoods.
Yongin Special City Giheung-gu announced on the 28th that Rapigene Co., Ltd., a specialized in vitro diagnostic medical device company located in Suwon City, donated 5,000 sets of COVID-19 antigen self-test kits. This donation is intended to help prevent infection among vulnerable groups who have difficulty purchasing self-test kits due to the resurgence of COVID-19.
Park Jae-gu, CEO of Lapigen, said, “As COVID-19 has recently spread again, it has become difficult to even obtain self-test kits,” and added, “We decided to make this donation in hopes of providing some help to the disabled and elderly who are particularly vulnerable to infection.” He added, “As a company that works together with the local community, we will continue to strive to fulfill our social responsibility.”
Giheung-gu plans to distribute 700 sets of donated self-testing kits to welfare facilities for the disabled and elderly in areas with a high risk of infectious disease outbreaks, and 100 sets to children’s welfare facilities. Through this, the district aims to actively protect the health and safety of welfare facility users.
In addition, the remaining 3,500 sets will be distributed to 15 districts in the district and delivered to senior citizens using senior centers, basic livelihood recipients, and low-income neighbors with an income of 120% or less of the median income. This is a measure to strengthen the self-diagnosis capacity of vulnerable groups in the community and effectively prevent the spread of COVID-19.
A former official said, “We are deeply grateful to Lapigen for their meaningful donation amid growing concerns over the spread of COVID-19,” and added, “We will do our best to prevent infectious diseases by distributing the donated self-test kits quickly and efficiently.” He also emphasized, “We will continue to work with the local community to make various efforts to protect the health and safety of vulnerable groups.”
Meanwhile, Rapigen Co., Ltd., a specialized company in the field of in vitro diagnostic kits and diagnostic technology established in 2002, developed a COVID-19 antigen self-test kit that received official product approval from the Ministry of Food and Drug Safety in 2021. Currently, the company exports various products to more than 52 countries around the world and is solidifying its position in the global medical device market.
This donation is evaluated as an exemplary case of corporate social responsibility, and is expected to make a significant contribution to the promotion of community health and prevention of the spread of COVID-19. Based on this public-private cooperation, Giheung-gu plans to continue to focus on strengthening the welfare and safety of the community.
