The International Safe City is a project that is recognized by the International Safe City Certification Center (ISCCC, Sweden ) as a city where local governments make scientific and continuous efforts in all fields to prevent various physical and mental damage .

In order to realize a safe city where everyday life is comfortable and happy, Yeonsu-gu has been laying the foundation for business promotion, such as signing a three- party agreement for business support since 2022 , and has been challenging the international safe city certification project .

In the first year last year , we carried out enactment of a safety city ordinance , investigation of the status of safety business resources , implementation of a safety awareness survey , ▲ diagnosis of safety management capabilities of safety business managers, etc., and brought forward the goal of being certified as an international safety city to next year .

In the second year, this year, we are continuing to make rapid progress by conducting business performance evaluation research services, monitoring regional safety indicators set in the first year, and implementing target value updates and advancements .

In particular, at the interim report meeting held on this day, the key indicators and high-risk groups derived from the evaluation of the Yeonsu-gu safety project promoted last year were selected, and various results and achievements for supporting the operation of regional customized safety promotion projects were presented .

Yeonsu-gu plans to continue its efforts in earnest to submit applications for certification next year and to establish a feedback system and to continuously carry out business operations based on certification standards , including evaluations, for certification following the first and second inspections .

To this end , we will conduct a pilot operation of a visiting working committee on the 20th of next month to strengthen governance and establish a foundation for mutual cooperation among all walks of life responsible for safety promotion, which is the most important public standard .

The working committee members will visit the area near Yangji Children’s Park in Yeonsu-dong and conduct an inspection along with explanations of problems that may arise on site. They will also share the working committee members’ activities and have time for discussion .

In addition, by the end of November , we plan to hold a citizen discussion session that takes into account age , region , and field, sharing the introduction of the International Safety City project and the status of damage in the region, followed by a citizen discussion on safety topics, and suggesting the promotion of safety projects tailored to the region .

Yeonsu-gu District Mayor Lee Jae-ho said, At a time when the importance of safety is being emphasized due to recent successive electric vehicle fires, it is very meaningful for Yeonsu-gu to be recognized internationally as a city with a strong safety foundation and capabilities . He added , I ask for the continued interest and cooperation of all safety-related organizations and departments, as well as all residents .”
