On August 27, the Nokyang-dong Community Center (Director Choi Gwang-gyu) in Uijeongbu City, along with the Nokyang-dong Community Council (Chairperson Choi Sook-ja) and 50 community center staff members, carried out a large-scale weed removal activity at the West Plaza of Nokyang Station. This environmental improvement activity was designed to improve the landscape of the West Plaza of Nokyang Station and the Heart Photo Zone, and focused on removing weeds growing along the sidewalks and around street trees.
Despite the bad weather with raindrops falling, the participants sweated and removed a total of 1,000 liters of weeds, contributing to creating a pleasant environment around Nokyang Station. As a result, the urban landscape of Nokyang Station, the main gateway to Nokyang-dong, was greatly improved, and a cleaner public space was provided to the large floating population.
Choi Sook-ja, the president of the Nokyang-dong Neighborhood Association, said, “Nokyang Station is the gateway to Nokyang-dong and an important place where many people come and go. I am very proud that we can contribute to creating a clean urban landscape through today’s weed removal activity,” and added, “We will continue to actively participate in environmental improvement activities to create a pleasant Nokyang-dong in the future.”
Choi Gwang-gyu, the head of Nokyang-dong, emphasized, “I would like to express my deepest gratitude to the Tongjang Council for their hard work in environmental management even in the rain. We will continue to do our best to make Nokyang-dong a clean and livable place through various environmental management activities.”
