The first public museum specializing in books in Korea, _Songpa Book Museum_, is preparing to welcome young readers through the Children’s Reading Golden Bell Contest on September 7 (Sat). This highly anticipated event will be held as part of the _Book Culture Festival_ on the 3rd at 10:00 AM. It will be held at the Awoolim Hall on the first floor of the museum at 3:30 PM.

Opened in 2019, the _Songpa Book Museum_ offers a variety of exhibitions, lectures, and educational programs on the theme of books, establishing itself as a unique cultural space in the region. This year’s _Book Culture Festival_ was created to increase children’s interest in reading and to spread book culture throughout Songpa-gu, and various events such as author talks, reading quizzes, and interactive library programs are held.

The highlight of the festival is the ‘Children’s Reading Golden Bell’ contest, in which 50 elementary school students from Songpa-gu participate. This contest is for 5th and 6th graders, and participants are selected on a first-come, first-served basis. Registration is currently underway on the Songpa Book Museum website.

The quiz contest will have participants answer questions based on five books covering topics such as literature, environment, history, mathematics, and economics. The questions will be created by a local elementary school librarian, and the three students with the most correct answers will be awarded a commendation from the Songpa Book Museum Director.

The books that appear in the quiz are: Leebo and Anne, Teacher, How to Achieve Carbon Neutrality?, Transformation! Cultural Heritage of the Five Heroes, Unexpected Math Stories, and Find the Hidden Color Treasures in _Tax-Paying Children Vol. 1_. These books are available for reading at the _Songpa Book Museum_ for students who want to prepare in advance.

In addition to the quiz, participants will have the opportunity to participate in a _Book Talk_ with author Eo Yoon-jung, author of Ibo and Anne. The talk will be held at 2 p.m. The same day, before the competition, young readers will have the opportunity to interact directly with the author and discuss the themes of the book.

Songpa-gu Mayor Seo Kang-seok encouraged the participation of local students, saying, “I hope that many local elementary school students will visit the _Songpa Book Museum_ and participate in fun events,” and “We will expand opportunities for children to experience.” We will foster a diverse reading culture to help foster a love of reading and form good reading habits.
