Sejong City Youth Symphony Orchestra Holds 'The Fantasy', a Fantastic Summer Night Concert

The Sejong City Youth Symphony Orchestra (Director Choi Min-ho) will hold a fantastic summer night concert, ‘The Fantasy’, at the Sejong Cultural Center at 5 PM on the 18th. This performance is a planned concert themed on film and classical music, and will be a stage filled with melodies and lyrical tunes familiar to the audience.

This concert will be divided into two parts. In the first part, familiar classical pieces that often appear in movies, dramas, and commercials will be played. In particular, Mendelssohn’s ‘A Midsummer Night’s Dream’, famous as wedding music, Prokofiev’s ‘The Knight’s Dance’ from ‘Romeo and Juliet’, and Tchaikovsky’s ‘Waltz’ from ‘Sleeping Beauty’ will captivate the audience’s ears. In addition, soprano Kim Soo-jung will present the original soundtrack of the movie ‘My Fair Lady’ and decorate the stage with elegant melodies.

In the second part, the famous song ‘I’m Gagaden’ from the drama ‘Empress Myeongseong’ will be performed with a collaboration of soprano Kim Soo-jung. Then, the original soundtracks of the movies ‘Beauty and the Beast’, ‘Harry Potter’, ‘Charlie and the Chocolate Factory’, the drama ‘Empress Myeongseong’, and the movie ‘How to Train Your Dragon’ will be performed in order, and finally, the ‘Aladdin’ OST by Alan Menken will decorate the stage.

Soprano Kim Su-jeong, who is from Jeonui-myeon, Sejong City and is currently a soloist at the National Opera Company, is expected to captivate the hearts of the audience with her lyrical and warm voice.

Choi Min-ho, the director of the Sejong City Youth Symphony Orchestra, said, “We have prepared a music vacation that will cool down the hot summer, as summer vacation approaches,” and “We will continue to be an orchestra that reaches out to citizens through various performances.”
