Yongin Special City announced on the 23rd that it has renovated the Central Children’s Park in Pungdeokcheon-dong, Suji-gu, and created a healing space that can be used by residents of all ages. A total of 500 million won from national and municipal funds was invested in this improvement project, and the park has been newly decorated with various facilities that can be enjoyed by everyone from children to the elderly.

Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 23rd that it has completely renovated the Central Children’s Park located in Pungdeokcheon-dong, Suji-gu (700-2), transforming it into a healing space that all residents can use. Central Children’s Park is one of the major parks used by citizens of various ages, as it is located near several apartment complexes and is adjacent to Towol Elementary School and Pungdeokcheon 1-dong Administrative Welfare Center. Accordingly, there have been constant requests from citizens to improve the old facilities.

Reflecting on these citizens’ demands, Yongin Special City began improving the facilities of Central Children’s Park in January of this year by investing a total budget of 500 million won, including 400 million won from the national budget and 100 million won from the city budget. This improvement project focused on creating a space that can be conveniently used by all age groups.

For the safety of citizens, we first replaced all the old and worn-out flooring materials and repaired the drainage facilities to secure the basic safety of the park. For children, various play facilities such as zip lines, swings, trampolines, mound play facilities, and combination play platforms were newly installed. This created an environment where children can enjoy playing while stimulating their five senses.

Consideration for the elderly is also outstanding. Exercise equipment was installed under the pergola in the park, and benches and chairs were placed throughout the park to provide a comfortable space for the elderly to exercise and rest. In addition, various plants such as Ophiopogon japonicus, pink velvet, and sukreong were planted to improve the park’s landscape, providing a place for citizens to see.

Mayor Lee Sang-il of Yongin Special City said, “It is meaningful that we have developed the park into a community space that all residents can use together,” and added, “As citizens’ demand for green space is high, we will work to expand the number of comfortable resting spaces in the future.”
