Seongnam City will hold a ‘2024 3rd Quarter Delinquent Vehicle Crackdown Day’ on the 27th, and will conduct license plate seizures on vehicles that have not paid their automobile taxes more than twice or by more than 300,000 won. This crackdown will be conducted intensively throughout Seongnam City, and will include vehicles from outside the city.
Seongnam City (Mayor Shin Sang-jin) announced on the 26th that it will hold the ‘2024 3rd Quarter Delinquent Vehicle Crackdown Day’ on August 27th. This crackdown will be intensively carried out throughout Seongnam City using vehicles equipped with license plate seizure systems and mobile devices.
The license plate seizure target is a vehicle that has not paid its automobile tax twice or more or has an amount of 300,000 won or more. In particular, in the case of vehicles outside the jurisdiction, if the automobile tax is not paid three or more times, the entire registration plate can be seized anywhere in the country, so strong crackdowns are expected.
Seongnam City continues to conduct on-site tax collection activities such as license plate seizure and vehicle shackling in addition to this day of crackdown. However, for livelihood tax delinquents, they are conducting customized tax collection activities such as encouraging installment payments to minimize the burden of payment.
Owners of vehicles whose license plates have been seized must pay the full amount of the overdue amount in order to have the plates returned. Vehicles that are not returned may be subject to public auction.
Payment of overdue amounts can be made without a notice at any financial institution’s CD/ATM machine, and can also be conveniently made through the Withtax and Internet Giro sites.
You can receive detailed information by contacting the Seongnam City Hall Tax Arrears Integrated Information Center (031-729-2680) or the tax office of each district office (Sujeong-gu 031-729-5194, Jungwon-gu 031-729-6194, Bundang-gu 031-729-7194).
A Seongnam City official said, “We will make every effort to realize tax justice so that honest taxpayers do not feel a sense of relative deprivation and to carry out customized collection activities for each type of delinquency.”
