Yongin Special City announced that it will hold the 3rd Korea Citizens’ Theater Festival from September 1st to 8th at the Maru Hall of Yongin Cultural Arts Center, starting with the opening ceremony on the 31st. This theater festival will feature 8 citizen theater groups from all over the country competing in performances, and various side events will also be held.
Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 27th that the ‘3rd Korea Citizen Theater Festival Yongin’ will be held from September 1st to 8th at the Maru Hall of the Yongin Cultural Arts Center in Cheoin-gu, starting with the opening ceremony on August 31st. This theater festival is hosted by Gyeonggi Province, Yongin Special City, and the Korea Theater Association, and organized by the Gyeonggi Branch of the Korea Theater Association and the 42nd Korea Theater Festival Executive Committee.
The 3rd Korea Citizens’ Theater Festival is a purely amateur theater festival in which 16 citizen theater groups from metropolitan cities and provinces across the country participate. This year, 8 theater groups selected through a public contest will participate in the final competition. They plan to present various theater works to the residents of Gyeonggi Province and Yongin.
The opening ceremony will be held at Yongin Cultural Arts Center at 4 PM on August 31st, and will feature an art market with Yongin Living Arts Clubs, a b-boying performance, a screening of a theater festival promotional video, and a congratulatory performance. This will mark the official start of the theater festival.
The theater competition will be held every evening from September 1st to 8th at the Maru Hall of the Yongin Cultural Arts Center, and admission is free on a first-come, first-served basis. Before the competition, the Fringe Festival, where you can enjoy various art performances, will be held every day from 6:30 to 7:00 in the Maru Hall lobby.
