The Incheon Metropolitan Government is expanding its real-time parking information service, previously centered on public parking lots, to include private parking facilities. The move aims to gather scattered parking data in one place so that residents can check for available spaces in advance before heading out.

The Incheon Metropolitan Government (Mayor Park Chan-dae) announced that it will fully expand its real-time parking information service from public parking lots to private parking facilities in order to improve parking convenience for residents and ease traffic congestion in urban areas.

After drawing up an integrated public parking information plan last year, the city has been providing consolidated information on public parking lots across the region through the Incheon Transportation Information Center website since January this year. This time, to extend the service into the private sector, the city signed a business agreement on August 21 with iParking Co., Ltd. (CEO Kim Dong-ho), a leading domestic parking platform company, for the provision of real-time parking information.

Under the agreement, iParking will link real-time availability data from private parking lots to the Incheon Transportation Information Center’s parking information, and the city will make this information available to residents through the center’s website. The city plans to further open the data on platforms such as the public data portal, supporting its wide use in the private sector, including the development of navigation apps.

With the parking information service, which had mainly covered public lots, now expanding to the private sector through this agreement, the number of private parking lots offering real-time guidance is expected to grow further. For drivers, being able to check information that was previously scattered across various apps and organizations through a single channel is expected to reduce the inconvenience of circling downtown in search of an open space.

Alongside this, Incheon plans to add real-time parking information for 20 public parking lots in the region this coming September.

Park Seong-sun, Director-General of the city’s Transportation Policy Bureau, said, ‘By proactively consolidating information on public and private parking lots that had been scattered across different organizations and platforms, we will resolve the inconvenience residents face in using parking facilities and create a more convenient parking environment.’
