Incheon City Namdong-gu Family Center announced on the 26th that it recently provided free medical checkups for multicultural and foreign families in cooperation with Incheon Medical Community Service Association and Incheon Regional Headquarters of Korea Industrial Complex Corporation .
This screening was designed to provide equal healthcare opportunities to multicultural , foreign , and immigrant families who have difficulty accessing medical services due to various reasons such as economic hardship and language barriers , and to promote health in the local community .
The examination subjects included internal medicine , orthopedics , family medicine , pediatrics , dermatology , urology , obstetrics and gynecology , dentistry , ophthalmology , otolaryngology , and oriental medicine .
Additional screening tests, such as electrocardiograms , ultrasounds , bone density tests , and blood x-rays, as well as free medication prescription services, were also provided as needed .
In particular , we have deployed seven medical interpreters and translators from China , Vietnam , the Philippines , Thailand , and Russia to help multicultural families who have difficulty communicating in Korean receive convenient medical treatment .
A multicultural family that received medical services said, “ It was difficult to receive medical treatment at the hospital because I did not speak Korean well, but through this opportunity, I was able to receive treatment and a prescription for medicine with my children without much difficulty . ”
Meanwhile , 33 medical staff , 10 volunteers , 6 Namdong-gu Family Center staff , and 7 medical interpreters and translators participated in this event , and approximately 100 multicultural families and foreign residents received medical services .
