The Rural Development Administration (RDA, Commissioner Lee Seung-don) announced the launch of an ‘Intelligent Integrated Search Service’ that allows users to find agricultural and administrative information—previously scattered across 32 websites of the agency’s headquarters and its affiliated and subordinate organizations—from a single search window. Using generative artificial intelligence (AI), the service lets users ask questions in everyday language, then locates relevant material, summarizes the key points, and guides users to the sources and original texts.

Until now, users seeking agricultural or administrative information had to first identify which organization provided the relevant material, then move to that organization’s website and search all over again—a cumbersome process. The core of this new service is that it reduces those steps, allowing information from multiple organizations to be checked at once from a single search window.
The search method has also become simpler. When a user enters a question in everyday language, the AI analyzes the intent and key terms of the question, extracts relevant material, and presents an organized summary of the main content. The sources used in the answer and related search results are provided as well, so users can immediately access the original text or detailed information.

For example, entering ‘Tell me the latest weekly farming information’ will retrieve the relevant material and summarize its key points. Even without knowing which website or menu the material is located in, users can find the information they need and reach the original text with a single question. Press releases as well as policy and administrative information can be searched the same way. A request such as ‘Find recent press releases’ will present the release date, title, and main content in an organized form, with additional search results allowing users to examine the details. Agricultural technology information, too, can be searched in one place without visiting all 32 sites individually; material most relevant to the question is presented first, along with a guide to the website where the information is posted.

The service also incorporates a design to enhance the reliability of its answers. The search scope is limited to the 32 sites of the RDA headquarters and its affiliated and subordinate organizations, and the relevance of retrieved material is reassessed through re-ranking so that only information meeting certain standards is reflected in the AI’s answers. Whereas conventional search finds the document containing the most keywords, the improved method selects documents that match the intent of the natural-language query. In addition, a customized system applies rule-based routing according to the type of question—such as civil complaints, organizational explanations, or the schedules of the commissioner and deputy commissioner—so that queries are branched and processed immediately at the query stage.
The service was pursued through a project contract on May 29 and a launch on June 11, with a completion report meeting scheduled for September 18. It can be used on the website (www.rda.go.kr/aisearch).

The RDA plans to continue monitoring search accuracy and the reflection of up-to-date information for each site, and to advance functions that automatically collect, screen, summarize, and analyze various materials. By analyzing usage patterns and search results, it will steadily improve answer quality and user convenience, and it plans to establish standards for providing web content that AI can clearly recognize, applying them first to the development of a comprehensive agricultural disaster information support service in 2027.
This is significant in that it reduces the inconvenience for citizens who had to wander from place to place because they did not know where information was located, and helps farmers and the general public reach the material they need more quickly and accurately.

Lee Sang-ho, director general for planning and coordination at the RDA, said, ‘We focused on reducing the inconvenience of having to search several places because people did not know which site held the information they needed,’ adding, ‘We will continue to raise search quality and user convenience so that citizens can find agricultural and administrative information easily and accurately in one place.’
