Yongin Special City (Mayor Lee Sang-il) announced on the 16th that it will operate a ‘Green 10-minute Environmental Lecture’ to widely publicize the importance of environmental protection and introduce environmental protection methods that citizens can practice in their daily lives. This program is mainly targeted at village or regional leaders, and is conducted by providing concise environmental education using spare time before and after their meetings or conferences.

According to city officials, the program will be operated in meetings with various groups, including village chiefs, residents’ self-governing committee members, village club members, and businesses. The theme of the education is ‘Yongin, the city of environmental education, Joa Yong!’, and includes the background and significance of Yongin’s selection as an environmental education city, as well as the city’s various environmental resources and educational programs. In addition, it plans to spread environmental protection laws that can be easily practiced in daily life.

The program can be pre-negotiated to provide customized education for each group. For example, you can receive education on topics such as ‘Proper Separation Method’, ‘Living While Saving Energy’, and ‘Healthy Living Habits That Protect Your Family from Harmful Chemicals’. The time and curriculum of the education can be adjusted through consultation with the city.

Groups or village leaders interested in this program can apply by contacting the Yongin City Environmental Policy and Environmental Education Team (031-324-3288).

City officials said, “The goal of this special lecture is to help citizens easily practice environmental protection in their daily lives and to strengthen Yongin Special City’s capacity as an environmental education city,” adding, “We hope that many citizens will take interest in the program and participate.”
