Seongnam City (Mayor Shin Sang-jin) has renovated Pangyo Content Street into a citizen-friendly space ahead of the ‘GXG 2024’ game culture festival to be held in September. Since October of last year, Seongnam City has divided the 750m section of the central pedestrian passage of Pangyo Techno Valley into three themes: play, festival, and picnic, creating an open space where various activities can be enjoyed. On the 29th, a pre-congratulatory event including a busking performance and volunteer inauguration ceremony will be held at Pangyo Content Street.
Seongnam City has given a major makeover to Pangyo Content Street ahead of the game culture festival ‘GXG 2024’ to be held in September. This project was carried out mainly along the 750m section of the central pedestrian walkway in Pangyo Techno Valley, and was divided into three themes: play, festival, and picnic, creating a space where citizens and office workers can enjoy various activities.
In the Play Canvas Space, facilities for the relaxation and communication of office workers were installed in the area in front of Nexon and NHN. Candy drop benches, traditional tables, and tea table rest areas were installed so that people can enjoy a comfortable rest in the city. The Festival Canvas Space is located in the plaza in front of Youth Space Mall, and a step-shaped plaza, pergola, rainbow ball, and other rest areas where large-scale events and game culture festivals can be held were created. In addition, the Picnic Canvas Space is a grass plaza in front of Samhwan Hipex, and it has been decorated as a green space where office workers and residents can heal.
On the 29th, at 5 PM, a celebratory performance and volunteer inauguration ceremony for the pre-promotion of ‘GXG 2024’ will be held at Pangyo Content Street. This event, which will be held in the square in front of Youth Space, will include a busking performance by the Soul Project band team, a celebratory performance by Shin Hyun-hee and Kim Root, and an exhibition of works by students from content-related departments at Shingu University.
Seongnam Mayor Shin Sang-jin said, “I am glad that the Pangyo Content Street has been completed and that busking and cultural events can be held there,” and added, “We will continue to hold cultural events and festivals themed on various games and content in the future to help Pangyo Techno Valley advance from a center of the gaming industry to a hub of content and culture.”
Meanwhile, Seongnam City’s largest game culture festival, ‘GXG 2024’, is scheduled to be held on September 6th and 7th at the Pangyo Station Plaza. With approximately 200 game companies forming a complex in Pangyo Techno Valley, including leading domestic game companies such as Nexon, NCsoft, NHN, Smilegate, Webzen, and Neowiz, this festival is expected to be an even more meaningful event.
