Incheon Seo-gu Cultural Center announced that it will hold the 29th Incheon Seo-gu Residents’ Contest on September 7, 2024 to commemorate Incheon Seo-gu Residents’ Day. This event will consist of essays and art contests, and over 200 participants are expected to participate. Any Incheon citizen over the age of 8 can participate.

Seogu Cultural Center (Director Jeong Gun-seop) will hold the 29th Incheon Seogu Residents’ Contest (commonly known as Baekiljang) on September 7, 2024 to commemorate the 36th Incheon Seogu Residents’ Day. The annual event aims to promote Korean language skills through literary creation and encourage residents to develop and preserve the use of the Korean language.

More than 200 participants from the Western region participate in this competition every year. The event is open to anyone over the age of 8 living in the Western District of Incheon, and provides students with a chance to demonstrate their writing skills, including vocabulary, grammar, and sentence structure. In addition to the writing competition, an art competition will also be held for preschool children aged 5 to 7 to further expand participation across age groups.

This contest will be held at the Incheon Seo-gu Cultural Center in Gajeong-dong, Incheon on Saturday, September 7, 2024 at 10:00 AM. The period is from Monday, August 19, 2024 to Friday, September 6, 2024.

In the award category, 33 people will be selected for the 100-day writing contest and 10 people will be selected for the art contest. Seo Deok-hyeon, the head of the Incheon Seo-gu Cultural Center, said, “We are happy to hold the writing contest on the 36th Seo-gu Citizens’ Day,” expressing his excitement for this event. He also said, “A Hangeul Day commemorative experience booth will be set up on the day of the event, so we hope that many Seo-gu residents will participate.”
