The Dohwa 1-dong Administrative Welfare Center (Head Hong Yeong) in Michuhol-gu held a natural soap-making activity with residents on the 29th. The event was arranged as part of the neighborhood's specialized volunteer hub program, "Upcycling to Boost Dohwa 1-dong's Environment and Happiness!"

About 10 people, including Dohwa 1-dong neighborhood association heads, local residents and a staff member from the Michuhol-gu Volunteer Center, took part in the activity that day. Working with their own hands, they produced 240 natural soaps.

The program was launched to help residents practice resource circulation in their daily lives and to expand both environmental protection and a culture of sharing by giving the items they make to their neighbors. As they made the soaps, participants reflected on the importance of eco-friendly living and shared the meaning of caring for their neighbors.

The finished natural soaps will be delivered to neighbors in need, such as elderly people living alone and low-income households. A notable feature is that items made by residents are returned to the community's vulnerable groups, weaving together environmental action and welfare sharing.

A neighborhood official said, "It was a meaningful time in which residents took part directly in upcycling activities and experienced the value of resource circulation and environmental protection," adding, "We will continue to promote specialized volunteer hub programs carried out together with residents."
