A scholarship program that helps local talent in Incheon's Jemulpo-gu focus on their studies has borne fruit again this year. The Incheon Jemulpo-gu Scholarship Foundation (Chairman Kim Chan-jin) held its 2026 scholarship certificate ceremony for high-achieving students at Sonamu Hall in the Jemulpo-gu district office on June 29, awarding a total of 150 million won in scholarships to the 50 university students selected this year.

The ceremony was attended by foundation directors, parents, and the students chosen as this year's scholarship recipients, who together celebrated the growth of local talent. The students received their scholarship certificates directly from the chairman and renewed their commitment to their studies.
The high-achieving scholarship program targets university students who have lived in Jemulpo-gu for at least two years and have earned outstanding grades. Each year the foundation selects 50 students and provides 3 million won to each, and the program, carried out under the goal of nurturing local talent, has continued steadily to mark its seventh year this year. At a time when the burden of university tuition and living expenses is growing ever heavier, the program is regarded as one directly connected to residents' lives in that it allows young people rooted in the community to ease their financial concerns and continue their studies.
Chairman Kim Chan-jin said, "It is deeply meaningful that our region's university students are diligently applying themselves to their studies and continuing to achieve outstanding results," adding, "We will continue our support so that the talented individuals who will lead the region's future can concentrate on their studies."
Since its launch in 2015, the Jemulpo-gu Scholarship Foundation has provided a total of 3,781,110,000 won in scholarships to 6,882 local students. As the results of the foundation's steady discovery and support of a set number of talented individuals each year have accumulated, the scholarship program is establishing itself as a leading foundation for cultivating talent in Jemulpo-gu.
The scholarship support repeated year after year carries great significance in that it does not stop at helping individuals with their studies but serves as the basis for a virtuous cycle in which talent nurtured in the region goes on to contribute to the local community. Attention is focused on whether the foundation's continued support will translate into future competitiveness for Jemulpo-gu.
