A volunteer effort putting rural labor support and marine environment protection into practice in one place was carried out. The Michuhol-gu Comprehensive Volunteer Center (head Yoo Jung-hyung, hereinafter the Center) announced that it held the second round of its "2026 Love for the Countryside! Love for the Sea! Doubly Good Service" activity in the Yangdo-myeon area of Ganghwa Island on the 2nd.

About 40 people, including volunteers and guides, took part in the day's activity. Visiting local farms short of hands during the busy farming season, participants helped bag grapes, then moved to a nearby shoreline to carry on with a marine environment cleanup, clearing away trash piled up on the beach.
The "2026 Love for the Countryside! Love for the Sea! Doubly Good Service" is a combined program that ties two forms of service — rural labor support and marine environment protection — into one. The Center runs the program so that participants can feel firsthand the value of their local community and environment and directly put the value of volunteering into practice.
Yoo Jung-hyung, head of the Center, said, "Volunteer work that looks after both the countryside and the sea is a meaningful practice for the local community and the environment," adding, "Going forward, through a range of volunteer activities we will pursue mutual prosperity with the local community and build a sustainable culture of sharing."
