Incheon's Yeongjong District (Chief Son Hwa-jeong) announced on the 13th that it had completed the five-day schedule of neighborhood visits by newly inaugurated District Chief Son Hwa-jeong, held from the 6th to the 10th. Organized for the first time since her inauguration, the visits were designed to bring the district chief face to face with key community stakeholders, including residents' council leaders and neighborhood autonomy committees, to discuss local issues directly.

Since beginning her term with the launch of Yeongjong District on July 1, Chief Son has been engaged in outreach efforts aimed at establishing the direction of governance for the newly created district and building trust with the local community.

The visits began on the afternoon of the 6th with a tea-time gathering at the district chief's office in Yeongjong District Office with the Residents' Autonomy Council (Chairman Choi Heon-geun) and the Federation of Neighborhood Council Leaders (Chairman Shin Seung-hak). At the meeting, Chief Son asked for active cooperation toward the development of Yeongjong District.

Chief Son then visited the administrative welfare centers of six neighborhoods in the district in turn — starting with Yeongjong-dong on the 7th, followed by Yeongjong 1- and 2-dong on the 8th, Unseo 1- and 2-dong on the 9th, and Yongyu-dong on the 10th — meeting directly with neighborhood autonomy committee members and council leaders.

At each neighborhood visit, Chief Son explained the current state of district administration and her vision for its future, while candid discussions ranged from routine civil complaints to major issues bearing on the district's future. In particular, Chief Son listened closely to each resident's remarks and offered on-the-spot solutions to matters that could be addressed immediately, drawing a positive response from attendees.

The district plans to have each department review the suggestions raised by residents during the visits, resolving tasks that can be handled in the short term immediately, while reflecting mid- to long-term tasks requiring budget allocation in future district administration policy.

"The driving force behind the newly launched Yeongjong District comes solely from the voices of its residents," said Chief Son Hwa-jeong. "Through the passionate hopes and expectations of the residents I met in the field over the past five days, I was able to gain confidence in the bright future of the newly established Yeongjong District." She added, "For matters requiring cooperation from related institutions, we will ensure swift action through active consultation," and emphasized, "We will build a Yeongjong District that is pleasant to live in, in ways that all residents can feel firsthand."

Following this round of neighborhood visits, Chief Son plans to continue her outreach starting on the 21st under the theme "First Meeting with Residents, Talking About Yeongjong," revisiting each neighborhood individually to meet with even more residents.
